FAQ

Questions, answered plainly.

If you are evaluating CMO Rulebook seriously, these are the questions you are likely asking — about the product, the pricing, your data, and the methodology.

The Product

What is CMO Rulebook?

CMO Rulebook is a decision engine for marketing leaders. It turns a KPI signal — rising CAC, falling ROAS, email collapsing — into a structured channel diagnosis, a budget rationale, and a board-ready narrative.

No data feeds, no integrations, no AI guesswork: you describe the signal and your business context, and a rules-based engine produces the diagnosis and the strategic logic to defend it.

Is this an AI tool? Does it just produce generic advice?

No. CMO Rulebook uses structured diagnostic logic — not a general-purpose language model. Every output is the result of a rules-based decision engine that responds to your specific KPI signal, business model, and growth stage. The logic is deterministic, consistent, and explainable.

Given the same inputs, it produces the same output every time — which is precisely what makes it citable in a board setting. You can read the full methodology at /methodology.

We already have dashboards and reporting tools. Why do we need this?

Dashboards tell you what happened. CMO Rulebook tells you what to do about it — and gives you the commercial logic to defend that decision in front of the board, CFO, or your leadership team.

Most senior marketing leaders are not short of data. They are short of structured thinking about what the data means strategically and what it requires of the business. This is a decision engine, not a reporting layer.

Who is this built for, and who is it not right for?

CMO Rulebook is built primarily for Heads of Digital, Marketing Managers, and performance leads who need to explain what the data means to commercial leadership — and who have to defend that position without a strategy team behind them.

It is also used by CMOs, Marketing Directors, and fractional or interim marketing leaders who need a repeatable diagnostic framework they can apply quickly across different business contexts.

It is not the right tool for teams whose primary need is data visualisation or campaign reporting. If what you need is a dashboard, this serves a different function.

What is included?

Everything, from the first session — there are no tiers and no feature gates. That means all three role modes (CMO, Head of Digital, and Marketing Manager), the strategic diagnosis engine, the budget simulator, the measurement coverage module, the campaign planner, the Data Roadmap, and session save and share.

The three modes share the same state — your KPI signals, business model, and growth stage — so outputs stay coherent as you move between strategic and executional views.

Getting Started

How does access work? Do I need to set anything up?

No setup required. CMO Rulebook runs entirely in your browser — no account to create, no data to upload, no integration required. You open it, select your role, enter your KPI signal and business context, and generate your first output in the same session.

Access details are sent to your email shortly after your request is confirmed.

Do I need to connect my analytics or ad platforms?

No. There are no integrations and nothing to connect. You describe the signal you are seeing — which KPI, which direction, how severe — plus your business model and stage, and the engine works from there.

That is a deliberate design choice: it keeps setup at zero, keeps your platform data where it is, and keeps the reasoning explainable.

Does it work on mobile? Can I install it?

Yes. CMO Rulebook runs in any modern browser and is fully responsive. You can also install it to your home screen or desktop like an app — and because it saves your work locally, it keeps working even when your connection drops.

How quickly do I get something useful?

Your first structured output — diagnosis, strategic plays, financial exposure, and a boardroom-ready summary — is generated in the same session you start in, typically within minutes of opening the tool.

Pricing & Access

What does it cost? How does pricing work?

£25/month, or £199/year billed annually. One price — full access to every module. No tiers, no feature gates, no sales calls.

Everything is included from the first session: CMO mode, HoD mode, Campaign Planner, Budget Simulator, Data Roadmap, and session save and share. Prices exclude VAT. Cancel anytime.

Is there a pilot for teams?

Yes — pilot conversations run through the access page. Request access and mention your team context; you will hear back by email.

Your Data & Privacy

Where does my data live? What if I clear my browser or switch devices?

By default, everything you enter stays in your browser — saved locally, sent nowhere. The app works fully without ever signing in.

If you want a safety net, optional cloud backup is built in: sign in with your email (a one-time code — no password to create) and your work backs up automatically. Clear your browser or open a new device, sign in again, and everything comes back.

Your backup is stored under a one-way cryptographic code rather than your email address, is never used for profiling or advertising, and can be permanently deleted with one click in the app. If backup is ever unavailable, the app keeps working — nothing is lost locally.

Do I need an account?

No account is required to use the product — it runs and saves in your browser. The only sign-in that exists is the optional cloud backup: your email plus a one-time code, no password to create. It is there when you want work to follow you across devices, and invisible when you don't.

What do you do with the numbers I enter?

Nothing except show them back to you — and, if you opt in to cloud backup, store them so you can restore your own work. Your inputs are never used for profiling, advertising, or resale, and because the engine is rules-based rather than a machine-learning model, your data is never used to train anything.

How do I delete my data?

Both copies are under your control. The local copy: clear your browser storage, or use the reset inside the app. The optional cloud copy: press "Delete cloud data" in the app's Workspace — a two-step confirm permanently removes the record, and your local work is untouched.

Methodology & Outputs

Where do the recommendations come from?

From a structured diagnostic methodology: a rules-based engine that reads your KPI pattern across acquisition, retention, and brand, calibrated financial models that turn a percentage move into a monetary exposure range, and benchmark figures sourced from named public research and reviewed quarterly.

The full reasoning approach — including what the engine deliberately does not claim to know — is documented openly at /methodology.

Can I share outputs with my board or my team?

Yes. Sessions can be saved and reloaded, shared with a link, exported as a backup file, and turned into a forwardable decision memo — a board-ready summary that states the diagnosis, the recommended moves, and the basis for both.
